High Effort, High Reward
Unhinged recognizes and rewards effort. If you're someone who is consistently available & prepared, someone who takes their assignments seriously, and etc, then you will be rewarded. The following rewards (if requirements are met) apply and are on top of the standard loot rules.
Requirements
80% availability
This includes our guild raid nights: Thursdays and Sundays at 7 PM server
- Based on the last 4 weeks
- Signup data collected when rosters post (Wed and Sat evenings) - if you sign up late or we have to chase you, no credit
- Communicate absences in advance (vacation, etc.) to stay eligible
e.g., Someone always signed up for both Thur and Sun but went on safari for a month, told us months in advance, received credit for both while away
- Last minute cancellations count as not signing up for the raid
A no-show without a very good reason counts as immediate disqualification until it falls off the rolling attendance data
See Patch Notes for updated availability and attendance requirements and related information.

Accelerated Eligibility for New Raiders
We want to get great new friends to a point they're feeling rewarded for their time as quickly as possible while protecting ourselves from the worst that gaming has to offer. Here's how we let newcomers (willing to put in the effort) on-board into the system as fast as possible:
- New recruits can now qualify for an accelerated HR if they maintain 100% attendance on both raid nights (Thursday and Sunday) for their first two full lockout weeks, while meeting all other HEHR requirements. This means they can lock in their first HR as early as their third lockout week.
- This HR will be backdated to the first lockout week raiding with Unhinged. This helps new recruits to avoid being locked behind a wall of existing HRs by rewarding those with availability on our established raid nights.
- In weeks three and four, new members must continue to show 100% attendance on both raid nights and meet all other HEHR qualifications to keep this accelerated eligibility.
- After four full weeks of meeting all standards, attendance and availability expectations for new recruits will ease to 80%, like other guild members.
Rewards
One hard reserve for the current tier of content!
- Select an item and stick to it until it's won.
- If you win your HR and remain eligible, you pick a new HR after a one-week cooldown.
- If there are multiple HRs on the same item, priority is determined by the earliest reservation lockout, and if a tie still exists, there will be a roll.
- Items must be appropriate for your main character and main spec, and must be approved by guild leadership.
- You can reserve an item from the last tier of content if it's BiS for your main character and main spec in the current phase (ex, Band of Accuria in P5 for many physical DPS).
What if I want to change?
Given the fast pace and evolving nature of Season of Discovery, we’re adding a bit of flexibility to the hard reserve (HR) process to allow for those inevitable BiS changes. Here’s how it works:
- Submit your intent to change your HR.
- Your current HR is removed immediately.
- Wait one lockout week without an HR.
- Your new HR will take effect the following lockout week.
Yes, it’s a bit of a gamble — there’s always a chance that coveted item could drop during your wait! This keeps things fair for everyone while giving some flexibility for those who need to reprioritize.
Patch Notes: Updates to HEHR
Introduction
This section records updates and clarifications to the High Effort, High Reward (HEHR) system.
-
If an update here restates or changes a rule from the original document, the update in this section takes precedence.
-
If a rule or requirement is not mentioned here, the original HEHR document remains in full effect.
1. Hard Reserve Limits per Phase
-
Tanks / Healers: Maximum of 2 HR items per content tier.
-
DPS:
-
1 HR with best overall boss parse average in green.
-
2 HRs with best overall boss parse average in blue.
-
3 HRs with best overall boss parse average in purple or higher.
-
-
Reasoning: Tanks and healers naturally face less loot competition. DPS gains from performance improvements directly accelerate raid progression, so this system incentivizes DPS to improve continually.
2. Attendance Scoring Adjustments
-
Advance Absences: Signing absent ahead of time awards 0.6 attendance points.
- Tardiness: Arriving late to the raid awards 0.75 attendance points.
- Early Departure: Leaving the raid early awards 0.75 attendance points.
- Tardiness + Early Departure: Awards 0.5 attendance points. Showing up late and leaving early undermines raid stability; in most cases it would have been better to be marked absent at 0.6, for you and for the raid.
-
Single-character raiders (both nights available):
-
Sign up available both nights → leadership assigns you to one.
-
1.0 point for attending the assigned night, plus 1.0 point for the other.
-
Your flexibility is appreciated and rewarded.
-
-
Single-character raiders (one night available):
-
Attend your signed-up night → 1.0 point.
-
Mark absent for the other night → 0.6 points.
- You maintain your RL commitments, but still remain eligible for HRs provided you don't miss a night or forget to sign up absent.
-
-
Extended Absences:
-
Players may request up to one month of extended absence if communicated to officers at least one week in advance.
-
During this period, nights missed will count as 0.6 points each without requiring weekly absent signups.
-
Beyond one month, nights will begin accruing as 0 points unless marked absent in the signup system.
- You cannot submit "absent on Sundays for a month" or "absent on Thursdays in perpetuity." If you have a recurring schedule conflict, just use the weekly signup system to mark yourself absent. The extended absence option is there to support players needing a short break, not to replace personal responsibility.
-
-
Zero Credit Cases:
-
Not signing up at all → 0 points.
-
Signing up but not showing up → 0 points, unless officers determine there was a very good reason. Repeated offenses may result in suspension from raiding, loss of HRs, or other consequences as determined by officers.
-
-
Purpose: This system allows one-night raiders and those with real-life constraints to remain HR-eligible (though more slowly), while ensuring loot primarily flows to those with consistent availability.
3. Multi-Character Raiders
-
Attendance is tied to the player, not to individual characters.
-
Each player must designate a single main character as the recipient of their HR(s).
-
We love alts - they make our raids possible. Some of our core tanks and healers are alts. Some of our top-performing DPS are alts. Without them, we wouldn't have two SE nights: we'd have one night with some people riding the pine. This lets people raid more often, but avoids having alt HRs standing in the way of mains' HRs.
- Alts continue to be brought at leadership discretion. We can't have a raid of all warriors (even with Attendancebringer). Balance is required. It's always a good idea to speak with leadership before rolling up the alt of your dreams: you don't want to push 60 and prepare to raid only to learn we have too many of that class/spec already.
4. World Buffs Update
-
With the introduction of Season of Discovery raid-wide buff items, individual farming of world buffs is no longer required.
-
Leadership will provide and coordinate these buffs during raids.
-
Players are not expected to gather external buffs; instead, focus is on showing up prepared with required consumables.
5. Consumables Update
-
Raiders are expected to consistently bring and use the following baseline consumables:
-
Flask appropriate to your class/role.
-
Two class-appropriate elixirs (e.g., Elixir of the Mongoose, Elixir of Shadow Power, etc.).
-
A weapon buff (oils, sharpening stones, etc., as appropriate).
-
Food appropriate to your class/role — do not assume feasts will be provided.
-
-
These are in addition to other class-required consumables and situational items.
- Have enough for 5+ boss pulls fully buffed.
-
Note: We see consumable usage with every ready check. Consistently failing to use consumables will make you ineligible for HEHR rewards, in line with the original vision for the system.
Why We're Doing This
Unhinged is a unified guild composed of exactly one team. By rewarding those who consistently demonstrate availability, preparedness, and attention to assigned tasks, we ensure that powerful items have the maximum impact on our raids. This approach:
- Enhances raid performance
- Accelerates gear progression
- Incentivizes commitment
- Directly rewards that commitment
- And still indirectly rewards more casual playstyles!
Nudging the gear curve such that we're rewarding dedication helps us to clear content more efficiently. As we clear content faster, all members benefit from increased loot opportunities. As all members gear quickly, we unlock the ability to split into more raid teams and accelerate gear acquisition even more! So... with some weighted distribution now, we unlock far more rewards in totality.
