Ranks & Roles Overview

Luminis Combat Division is structured to ensure efficient operations across all sectors, with ranks determined by experience, time served, and both general and advanced knowledge. The following ranks define the hierarchy and specialized roles within the Private Military Operations sector.

 

High Command 

Fleet Admiral (O-10) FleetAdmiral.png
The highest-ranking officer, Fleet Admiral commands the entire naval and space fleet, responsible for developing and executing overarching strategies. Fleet Admirals coordinate large-scale, joint operations across multiple sectors and work directly with Luminis corporate leadership on strategic objectives. Typically appointed during wartime or high-stakes conflicts requiring unified fleet action.

Admirals oversee multiple task forces, playing a key role in planning and managing expansive operations across space and planetary systems. They ensure fleet resources are allocated effectively and coordinate logistics and tactical strategies on a large scale.

Vice Admirals are in charge of a significant portion of the fleet, such as an entire sector or strategic space station group. They manage regional defense, resource distribution, and act as the primary decision-makers for their assigned regions.

Rear Admiral (O-7) RearAdmiral.png
Rear Admirals lead specialized divisions, including reconnaissance, planetary defense, or elite special operations. They focus on high-priority missions and operational needs, refining strategies and directing resources to protect assets and execute specialized operations.


Mid-Level Command

Commodores lead small task forces or squadrons, specializing in mission types such as mining protection, sector patrols, or escorting high-value assets. They are experts in adaptive strategy, coordinating closely with individual ships under their command for mission success.

Captain (O-5)    Captain.png


Captains command a single capital ship (e.g., cruiser or battleship) and are responsible for the ship's operational readiness, mission success, and crew well-being. They balance strategic priorities with daily decision-making, ensuring the vessel’s peak performance.

Commander (O-4) Commander.png

Commanders are in charge of smaller ships (e.g., destroyers or frigates) or lead critical departments aboard larger ships (such as engineering, navigation, or tactical operations). They provide hands-on leadership and ensure crew performance aligns with mission objectives.


Junior Officers

Lieutenant Commanders assist Commanders, managing key areas on smaller vessels or departments aboard capital ships. They bridge the gap between junior officers and senior command, ensuring effective execution of directives.

Lieutenants lead specific departments (e.g., weapons systems or communications) and take charge of tactical decisions or flight missions. They are key players in mission-critical areas, responsible for ensuring smooth operations within their departments.

Sub-Lieutenant (O-1)SLiutenant.png


Sub-Lieutenants support Lieutenants and other senior officers, leading small teams or tactical units. They gain hands-on experience while preparing for higher command positions, developing leadership and decision-making skills.

Ensign (Trial)
Ensigns are entry-level officers who carry out specialized duties under supervision. They assist with ship operations and support mission objectives while mastering foundational tasks and preparing for future advancement.


Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs)

As the highest NCO rank, the Master Chief Petty Officer is a seasoned leader, offering guidance to both officers and enlisted personnel. They oversee training, morale, and operational readiness, ensuring the crew functions cohesively.

Chief Petty Officers manage specific sections or teams, such as weapons maintenance or flight crew management. They mentor junior NCOs and ensure that tactical and technical objectives are met, playing a key role in operations.

Petty Officers are responsible for leading small teams and maintaining specialized equipment or crew areas. Skilled technicians and leaders, they ensure ship functionality and provide essential support during missions.

Corporals lead small groups of enlisted personnel, overseeing tasks like ship operations, security, and technical responsibilities. They provide entry-level leadership, guiding new enlistees and ensuring mission success.


Enlisted Personnel

Specialists are highly skilled in specific fields such as navigation, engineering, or communications, performing essential tasks crucial to ship operations. They work closely with officers to ensure optimal system functionality and contribute to mission success.

The starting rank for enlisted personnel, Airmen or Privates handle day-to-day operational tasks aboard ships, stations, or ground units. They provide essential support across all missions and can advance through ranks (2nd Class, 1st Class, and Carrier Air Group (CAG) for pilots) as they gain experience and training.
