Hostile Communication Directives

Luminis Corporation Guide for Communication with Enemies and Potential Conflicts in Star Citizen

Welcome, new recruit!
As a member of Luminis Corporation, you're part of a professional and well-organized force. Conflict is inevitable in Star Citizen, whether it’s with hostile factions, pirates, or players with differing objectives. How you communicate in these situations is crucial for maintaining Luminis’s reputation while ensuring effective outcomes. This guide will help you navigate these interactions with professionalism and firmness.

1. Professionalism Above All

  • Maintain a Calm, Respectful Tone: Whether you're engaging with an enemy or in the heat of battle, always remain calm and respectful. There’s no need for excessive aggression, insults, or unprofessional behavior. You represent Luminis, and your conduct reflects the standards of the Corporation.
Example: "This is Luminis Corp. We’ve been observing your actions. Stand down and disengage, or we will take necessary action."

  • Stay Focused on the Objective: Keep communication clear, direct, and goal-oriented. Resolve the situation efficiently without escalating it unnecessarily.
Example: "This is your final warning to cease hostilities. If you continue, we will engage, and the consequences will follow."

2. Dealing with Hostile Players

  • Initial Contact: When engaging with hostile players, start firm but professional. Luminis is a force to be respected.
Example: "Unidentified vessel, you are in violation of Luminis space. Identify yourself and prepare to comply with standard protocol."

  • Firm Warnings: If the situation escalates, give clear, concise warnings. Avoid empty threats. Luminis follows through on what is said.
Example: "You’ve been warned. Continue this course of action, and we will be forced to defend ourselves."

  • Escalation in Combat: If combat becomes inevitable, maintain professionalism even under pressure. Avoid excessive chatter or taunting—it detracts from focus and may provoke retaliation.
Example: "Engaging hostile target. This is your final warning."

3. Handling Potential Conflicts (Non-Hostile Encounters)

  • Assess the Situation: Before reacting, assess the threat level. Sometimes a simple conversation or change of course can avoid a conflict.
Example: "This is Luminis. We’ve noticed your proximity to our operations. Do you require assistance, or is there an issue we need to address?"

  • Diplomatic but Firm: If there’s tension but no immediate threat, remain diplomatic while clearly stating Luminis’s position. Avoid aggression unless needed.
Example: "We understand there may be some confusion. However, Luminis does not tolerate interference with its operations. We recommend you move along, or we will take appropriate action."

  • Do Not Back Down from Threats: If an enemy or hostile group threatens or takes aggressive action, defend yourself and Luminis. Assert your position firmly.
Example: "Threats will not be tolerated. You have made your choice. Prepare for engagement."

4. When You Need to Retreat or Avoid a Fight

  • Know When to Disengage: Sometimes retreating is the best option. Luminis values preservation over unnecessary conflict. Communicate this decisively.
Example: "We’re disengaging for now. This isn’t the time for a fight, but rest assured, we’ll be back."

  • Communicate the Retreat Professionally: If disengaging, inform the enemy and your team calmly, so there is no ambiguity about your actions.
Example: "Luminis is retreating to regroup. We will return when better prepared."

5. Handling Multiple Parties in Conflict

  • Neutral Stance until Provoked: Luminis prefers to stay neutral unless provoked. Clarify that any action will be in response to threats to your interests.
Example: "Luminis does not engage unless provoked. If you are not an immediate threat, we will keep our distance."

  • Clear Communication with Allies and Enemies: If in the middle of a conflict, communicate with both allies and enemies to avoid misunderstandings.
Example (to allies): "We are engaging hostile forces to protect Luminis interests. Support is needed."
Example (to enemies): "We will not tolerate your aggression any longer. Disengage, or face further consequences."

6. Maintaining Control in High-Stress Situations

  • Stay Composed: In battle, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Keep communication brief but direct and avoid emotional outbursts. Luminis members should always maintain a clear head.
    Example: "Target locked. Engaging now."

  • Delegating Communication: If part of a squad, delegate communication tasks to maintain order. Commanders focus on strategy while others relay tactical info.
Example (to squad): "Squad Alpha, focus on the enemy's engines. Squads Bravo and Charlie, provide support."

7. Reporting Conflicts and Hostile Actions

  • Use the Chain of Command: If the situation escalates or involves significant threats, report it to higher command for the appropriate response.
Example: "Hostile forces engaged. Reporting to command for further action."

  • Document Threats: Gather evidence or document any threats or violations of Luminis space for future review or action.
Example: "Recording hostile actions for further review."

8. Remember the Luminis Code

Unity and Honor:
Even in conflict, remember that we are one unit—Luminis stands together. Every action, whether aggressive or defensive, should align with our core values of unity, honor, and professionalism. Keep this in mind with every interaction, and communicate it to others when possible.

In Summary:

  • Be Professional and Respectful: Always communicate in a calm, firm, and respectful manner.
  • Assert Your Authority: If threatened or engaged, firmly defend your position and assets without hesitation.
  • Stay Focused on the Objective: Keep the focus on the mission and desired outcomes, whether diplomacy or combat.
  • Know When to De-escalate or Retreat: Discretion is key. Know when to disengage and regroup.

Luminis Corporation – Strength in Unity, Honor in Action. Stay professional, stay firm, and carry the spirit of Luminis wherever you go.
